what do you need to be skilled at to live in Australia

what do you need to be skilled at to live in Australia?
Ive heard that in order to live in Australia you need to be skilled at something. Would being a mental health nurse do? Would it be easy to find a job as a nurse? What about physiotherapy?

I have herd the same thing i am going to be a zoologist with a bachelor degree in wildlife rehab and i want to move to Australia too,but i think they have to need someone in that field of work to let you immigrate...you can not move there and work without being a citizen!

Doctors Teachers Dentists Nurses In fact most professions require skilled labourers

Registered Mental Health Nurse is one of the critical in need professions at the moment (not physio). That means you will have no trouble getting a visa BUT that doesnt mean there will be a job here for you - many of the critical in need jobs are in the country (not in any of the cities - especially the health professionals) as locals prefer to work in cities instead of the country. For example - the Flying doctors service is almost entirely staff by overseas individuals.

They have been cutting down on the proffessions. Just recently they removed all trades, before if you were a plumber you could easily get in but now they can't. Nursing is an area that we are still looking for though. Nuses, doctors and teachers are the big ones.

Hi Lou, I am recent hospital discharge, was 5 weeks cardio ICU. One of the nurses overheard me saying I was planning on going for another holiday. She told me that she applied to move to Australia (Sydney) under the Professions clause. They put her through becuase she as certificates in the following areas Cardio ICU, Maternity, she can do deliveries or something, and Trauma Emergency Recieve or something to do with Emergency and trauma. She was saying they asked her if she was looking at working city or country, she is from the rural area over here, so she picked country, she says that's where the person that interviewd her smilled.
