Depends - do you want to stay in a hot climate? Darwin is right in the tropics. If you'd like to keep the humidity, but get out of the cyclone belt, Perth is humid, and has some tropical features. It is also the wealthiest city, but is remote. A lot of people around you? Try Sydney. Melbourne is colder than Sydney. Hobart is Tasmania's capital, but it's like England's weather. Adelaide is cool to hot, and most of the year dry. Log on to the Tourist bureau sites for each State, and then see.

Suitability will depend mostly upon you! What sort of work do you want to find (some work is regional; some only occurs in large cities)? What sort of weather do you like? What sort of environment do you want to be close to (do you like bushwalking/surfing/skiing and how close do you need to be for your hobbies)? What are your educational requirements (do you need big universities and a variety of schools nearby)? Does anyone in the family have any special needs or disabilities (if so, you might want to be close to specialists or major hospitals in big cities)? Brisbane is 'easy', warm (some suggest a bit humid), and has facilites like the other major cities, without as much hustle and bustle. It's also fairly affordable compared to, say, Sydney. If you're willing to live in the country, there are plenty of regional towns that have a great deal to offer and are trying to attract residents (eg Ballarat).

australia is the best place to live cricket the wether is very comfortable

perth is a nice place to raise a family- it has parks suitable for all types of sports and leisure. the daycares, schools are all over the place to cater to the educational needs of the children. it has good beaches, nice malls but the weather is a bit humid particularly during summer. it's the centre of western australia so, it's near everywhere else.

Perth, it is lovely!! anywere really near the coat as it offers so much to do. Scuba diving and other water activities are available!! Austrailia is funfunfun! HA. I would suggest good old france!

If you like shopping and don't mind temperatures that vary a lot - up to 30 degrees celsius in summer and around 15 degress in winter then Melbourne is wonderful. Great public transport, friendly people - I love it.

I loved spending time in Brisbane! Not too too hot and lots to do I was never bored! I lived in West end wich is just a walk away from down town. So i lived 20 minutes walk away from sky scrappers but yet i had a wicked back yard with possums and palm trees! Brisbane is full of parks and green green green everywhere! I would so totaly live there again if my situtation was diffrent right now! :)

Sydney is the best option for the night life,Job plus beaches.Weather is also almost moderate throughout the year.

all our big cities are on the beach, exception being Alice springs. Perth and Gold coast are the tourist mecca places, but do be warned that the economy here is also slowing and many aussies are doing the casual hospitality jobs. competition is heavy. Inland at the mining towns pubs ,they tend to hire backpackers , female usually! fruit picking is usually available in season, hard work, not at the beach and pay isn't that great. i suggest you start browsing the job sites for au to really get an idea. if you have a trade or uncommon skill you may do better.

Sydney is great . The night life is really good , there is Bondi beach , Manly beach . Sydney is very warm in summer , just come out a string of 40+ c degree days (104+ f) . Also , consider the Gold Coast . Lots of beaches , usually pretty warm all year round - wouldn't know personally , I'm a Sydney girl . Plus , the gold coast has lots of theme parks . Unfortunately , Sydney's only decent theme park closed a few years ago . =( But research them both , make your own judgements from there . Good luck . Hope you like Australia .

Not for a year you can't. You could have 90 days as a tourist but if you want to work you need a Work Permit, if you want to stay beyond 90 days you need a suitable visa. Work permits are about as common as Dodo droppings. The Australian Government Web-site has on on-line test where you can access your chances of admission. Ian M

Sydney is very beautiful and there are lots of interesting places there. But if you are looking for a place that is calm and in the farmlands i would live in Nambucca Heads. It is very green out there and you have lots of land to do whatever you want.

hi, firstly where are you coming from? that would help decide where is best for you. best city for young people? any city along the eastern seaboard really...brisbane (although i would choose the gold coast over that), sydney or melbourne. adelaide is kinda boring...no offence to adelaide people. i love going there to visit family...but yeah...and perth is more of a family type city. being from melbourne, i can say that i have gone to every major city around australia, but our nightlife is still THE BEST. its great, so many places and the best locations. nice beaches? i wouldnt opt for sydney beaches, just coz they are kinda polluted...gold coast is nice, but if you go there choose broadbeach over surfers paradise. the bay area around melbourne is great, just stay on the east part of the bay, albert park, st kilda down all the way to portsea. they are the best. the opposite side isnt too nice...like altona way. do you want hot weather all year round? qld is your best choice, but remember that coz its tropical, nov-feb/march is constantly wet or flooding. sydney and melbourne have nice weather. but they have a winter...everyone hates on melbournes weather...the coldest it gets in winter is probably 16 degrees celcius not cold at all honestly, try living overseas! our summers are lovely, usually between 25-35 degrees. althought this year we did have VERY hot weather. job wise, australia is good everywhere :) but i think it may be harder to get one in sydney just coz the cost of living there is higher....its a rip off

There's no more local market? if it takes off there, the US will be interested sigh, it's come to something when only success in the US counts as *real* success. *s* show 'em there's other countries in the world!

not many labels listen to demos. anyone with a computer can (and do) make demos and ship them off to studios. this causes record labels to get tons of demos that are horrible, and thus they save their time by not even listening. if you want to get noticed, start making records and selling them. then start performing shows and selling tickets. if you prove that you can sell tickets and records, labels will find you. there's also youtube
