That's difficult to say without knowing what standard of living you would expect and where in Australia you would be living, but AUD$100k should be sufficient in most places. You could manage on $30K or $40k less if you had no mortgage or accomodation expenses and lived very simply, but I suspect that someone who has been working in the Middle East would not be very comfortable at that level. If you are not an Australian or New Zealander, it may not be all that easy for your family to move here as immigration to Australia is very restricted e.g. you must be under 45 and have a skill and qualifications that are in demand at the time of your application.

To be able to live comfortably in Australia, you would need to be earning close to $100,000. Otherwise, the mortgage eats up your salary and you wouldn't be able to take your family on holidays or day trips to anything worthwhile. It really depends on your family's spending habits, some families can get by on less than $50,000 annually if they are careful not to waste money on unnecessary expenses. If you have younger children, they would need to be educated, and that would depend on whether they studied at a public high school or private. I have two children, aged 11 and a half and almost ten. I can't actually take them out for the day without spending around $100. For example, in Sydney, we have Luna Park and it's also in Melbourne. We went to Luna Park about a month ago and spend around $200. That included 3 unlimited ride passes and food. If you go to the movies, you can't spend less than $100 once you pay for your tickets and refreshments. You try to buy some popcorn and the box that's the size of a house is not much more expensive than the little box so without realising you've upsized everything for all the family. What I'm saying as a native Aussie is that if you are a professional, then living in Australia is affordable. For someone on a tight budget, it might be very testing. Good luck, it would be worth coming here for a holiday to check it out.

You become eligible to apply for Australian citizenship after you have lived here for at least 4 years including at least 1 year as a Permanent Resident. During the 4 years, you must have spent no more than 1 year in total out of the country including no more than 90 days in the year immediately before applying. Getting the PR is the hard part of the citizenship process - without PR, you can never become a citizen, no matter how long you live in Australia. http://www.citizenship.gov.au/applying/how_to_apply/conferral_app_process/ Citizenship application process Of course you can work in Australia without being a citizen, but you CANNOT work without a work visa and apart from working holiday visas for young people from eligible countries, work visas are very hard to get. http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/visa-options.htm Working holiday visa options http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/ Skilled work visa options - there are no work visas for unskilled workers or for people whose occupation is not listed as eligible for a work visa.

As Oz said. Unless you are eligible for the WHV you will not be able to work in Australia if you have not already applied for and been given a work visa - they take a couple of years to come through so if you do not have one now you will not be able to get one by your November timeline.

You apply for a Partner visa with your husband as your sponsor. You must provide extensive evidence that your relationship is genuine and continuing and not simply a sham entered into in order to get a visa for you. If the visa is granted, it will be temporary for 2 years and then becomes permanent if you can prove that the married relationship has continued for that time. If the relationship isn't genuine, don't bother - the DIAC checking procedures will catch you out and you will both be in serious trouble. http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/partners/partner/309-100/ http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/1127.pdf

You'll have to prove a genuine and authentic relationship. That would require at least twelve months of a continuous period of living together as man and wife, with any absences that are not deemed temporary, being explained(any thing over six months is deemed a permanent absence). Without being able to fulfill that requirement, everything else would be moot.

Google tries to determine your location based on your IP address. You may be using an IP address of a company based in the UK. Look up your IP address http://www.myipaddress.com/show-my-ip-address/ Then put that IP address in a service that will tell you the owner and maybe even the location of that IP address. Not sure where UK or Australia would be looked up from but you can start by trying arin. http://www.arin.net/index.shtml Another reason is you could be using a UK proxy.
