I am going to grad in 2012, and I would like to move to Australia for a year afterwards. I would like to live close to a beach, work a part time job, and just keep it as simple as possible. What are my options? How could I live in Australia cheaply and have no worries? And if not Australia, what are my other options? Thank you :)

Hey there, I'm from the Sunshine Coast in Qld, Australia. (we have amazing beaches). Just google them! If your were intending on studying in Australia, an option would be to apply to the University of the Sunshine Coast. This would able you alot more student options and cheaper opportunities.. one being accommodation etc. www.usc.edu.au/ Near this uni is affordable student accommodation, which is also alot of fun because you get to meet alot of people and form friendships. The Beach is about 10-15mins away (Mooloolaba Beach), in my opinion one of the best beaches in Australia. So buses run quite frequently from the University. The Sunshine Coast is also famous for alot of tourist activities - Markets, Sunshine Plaza, Noosa Beach/Hasting St. Its quite a causal place to live if you love beach culture. Although Its quite expensive to live right on the beach, unless you rent with 2-3 other people. So i'd suggest renting a room or student accom. For work there are usually alot hospitality jobs around, so if you have alot of experience and a good resume. It should be quite easy for you :) I lived in Varsity Accommodation for a year, and it was pretty fantastic. The beach is nearby and its a good way to start if your new to the country. To help in the living cheaper bit, avoid the main Supermarkets, and check out the smaller shops. Quite often the pricing can be very different. eg Woolworths has a special on Smoked Sliced Ham at the moment down from $19 to $16, but our butcher has it for $5 kg. Plenty of similar things happen all the time.

You could try Wwoofing. Wwoofers are Willing Workers on Organic Farms. You get accommodation and board in exchange for some work. http://www.wwoof.com.au Places near the beach that take wwoofers are very popular but you should check them out.

Hon, living closely to the beach is far from cheap, you're no Bill Gates, I mean. Cheap is in the inner west suburbs.
