Ted - your answers are best answered by the IRS @ www.irs.gov - if the answer is not on their website, you can phone them

If all you did was set up an LLC and you did not incorporate, you file a 1040 with a schedule C. (And you don't pay yourself a wage because you aren't an employee.) As far as the foreign earned income test (which does not apply to SE tax by the way), where was the work performed? There is a totalization agreement with Australia. but if you didn't get a certificate, you must still pay the SE tax.

You probably need an accountant or tax attorney in the U.S. who can keep up with all the changes in tax law, answer your questions, and possibly prepare your taxes for you. A good accountant can often save you more than it costs for his services.
4 :
Yes, your LLC will pay all the taxes as before you moved to Australia. Your income is also subject to SE tax at 15.3% or if you are a W2 employee then you must pay SS tax and Medicare tax. On your return, you must report your world wide income. If you paid taxes in the foreign country, you will claim credit for taxes paid in the foreign country by filing Form 1116 or can file form 2555 Foreign Earned Income Exclusion.. Another filing requirement is Form TD F 90-22.1.
5 :
where is the nexus of your LLC?

I am a doctor by profession and want to study further in Australia. But I came to know that the stay and food in Australia is much expensive. Now I want to know that either there is some program of Austrian Govt which can facilitate doctors to stay sound in Australia? I want to do my post graduation in Australia in Gynaecology or Medicine? Please do reply me! With regards... (Dr. Faizan)

You are asking about a medical residency. If you are accepted into a program - and it is unlikely as there are only a small number of positions available and they first go to Australian citizens and then international applicants who completed their medical degree in Australia prior to external applicants - a salary is usually given. There has been a 200% increase in the number of medical graduated being produced by Australian universities in recent years but the number of supervisors for specialist training has actually reduced meaning that many students who wish to specialise are not able to. (there were 340 spaces for 680 graduates in NSW in 2009 and none of the international students got places for internship)

7 :

8 :
Depends which country. Koreans can come for about four years. Japanese on a working holiday visa for 1 year. Americans are pretty much banned because they have a stupid president. British can stay for about as long as they like because they're like our mother anyway
9 :
This is not the best or smartest question to ask.
10 :
A tourist visa allows a 3 month stay. A working visa allows a 1 year stay. After that you need to apply for residency.
11 :
It all depends on what type of visa you want and qualify for. A temporary visa is for 3 months to 4 years. Here is a link to an official Australian Government site. http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/booklets.htm
12 :
check the Dept Immigration's website for the correct info.

Go to http://www.workpermit.com The site has an online test where you can access your chances of being admitted. You will discover that your chances are somewhere between minuscule and zero. Having made that discovery you abandon the idea. Ian M

Assuming you have a Partner who is an Australian citizen or PR, most of the checks are to determine if your relationship is 'genuine and continuing' and not a sham entered into just to get a visa for you. If that's what you have in mind, forget it! You'll need all kinds of documentation regarding the length and nature of your relationship - see pages 38/39 of the Partner Migration booklet for examples of the type of evidence you'll need to provide. The rest of the process and requirements are fully explained elsewhere in the booklet. At the interviews (they interview both of you - separately), you'll both be asked questions that you would only know the answers to if you are a genuine couple. They might ask the colour of your partner's toothbrush; what side of the bed they sleep on; the type of books they read; how you get on with their family; what you did on your first date; their favourite food - it could be anything at all. http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/1127.pdf Partner Migration booklet. http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/partners/partner/309-100/ Offshore Partner visa. Apart from relationship evidence, you'll also need a medical and you'll have to supply police checks from any country you've lived in for 12 months or more over the last 10 years since turning 16. If you supply your medicals and PCCs when you lodge your visa application and if everything is in order, you should get a decision within a couple of months and perhaps even faster - very strong and well documented Partner visa applications sometimes take only a week or so. That workpermit site is useless, inaccurate and misleading. You should trust only the official government immigration site.
