What is it like to live in Australia

What is it like to live in Australia?
It seems like it would be really cool- like a British version of California with a tropical twist, but Australian. What is it like to live in Australia?

Great weather most of the time , easy going way of life with a stable political situation , solid economy , heaps of opportunity if you are prepared to work hard ...in short , the land of milk & honey !

It's got everything you could wish for and more. Do you yearn for a night at the opera? The bright lights, the city, the clubs Or a small country town miles from nowhere With a servo, a store and two pubs? Would you rather a snow covered mountain Where the air is so fresh and so clean Or to gaze at the sky from the desert Seeing stars, as they’ve seldom been seen To dine at the finest of restaurants Or relax on a tropical isle Maybe a trek through the jungle Is more to your liking and style? Should you search every far away country With the risk that your search is in vain? No, the riches are all on our doorstep The mountains, the jungles, the plains There’s a magical mystical nation Where there’s still lots of space left to roam To the rest of the world, she’s Australia To the luckiest ones she’s called home.

What's it like to live in Aussie? - fairly low population (21 million) - great transportation system (particularly Melbourne and Sydney) - great beaches (Gold Coast!) - fresh food - fresh air (NOTHING like it, just breathing the air is a treat!) - great health care... if you have health problems or thinking of old age, going to Australia is a good move. Public hospitals are often better than private ones - clothes are quite expensive - makeup is expensive (Aussie brands are cheaper outside of Aussie!) - cigarettes are expensive (a way to discourage people from smoking) - foods that are bad for you are expensive (ex. soda) - lots of things are more expensive in Australia than in the States!!! - limited brand selection (in order to protect Aussie industry), you will NOT find Hersheys in the supermarket - laidback culture - great if you're the type that easily gets stressed - warning: shops close at 5/6 pm except for 1 day a week (9 pm Thursdays in Sydney; 9 pm Fridays in Melbourne) - great food variety (from all the immigrants that are there) - very unique flora and fauna - generally cool save for winter and summer (extremely hot) - hardly any poor people! - education: Aussie citizens can study on loan from the government and start paying back only when they are working and at a certain salary level. Great if you have kids and don't want to worry about the money for their education - the FLIES are crazy at certain times of the year I love Australia despite a lot of things there being more expensive than in other parts of the world and the stores closing so early! It's a wonderful place to live.

Wheres the best place to live in Australia

Wheres the best place to live in Australia?
Im 15 and my family's probably moving to Australia. Were searching for where we should move right now. Does anyone know of a place that has amazing beaches and kind of a party atmosphere to it? Or any other place you can suggest?

There are a number of places exactly like that, but the novelty soon wears off and you still need to go to school during the week and your parents still have to go to work. Most of the places that are renowned for the things you've described are in the tourist areas like the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and North Queensland (no surf in NQ) but your parents may not be able to find work there - surely that must be the most important consideration? Everywhere in Australia that's on the coast and not too far south is a good place to live if you like the beach. Australians know how to have a good time and there will be parties and friends wherever you settle. You'll find that we have a great, laid back lifestyle and it's not limited to the tourist areas.

I live in Queensland on the Sunny Coast and it's awesome!!! Sooo much to see and do and most of the time it has fairly nice weather, (cold in the winter and can be very hot in the summer), but spring time and autumn I find are the best times of the year here. It has sea side places to live with bautiful beaches, rainforests, mountains and the hinterland, which is the more further out "country style" parts like Yandina and Montvill, for the more active city style parts I would recomend Coolum, Maroochydore and Maloolaba. The Sunshine Coast is bauitiful and vast and has all the shops and entertainment you could want espeically at the sunshine plaza which is at Maroochydore. If you want a place where the party style is on the sunshine coast I'd recomend Maloolaba coz it has both clubs and beaches, buts the Sunny Coast is an expensive place to live and is increasing in population all the time, so the cheapest parts would be, Nambour, Bli Bli, and Yandina. Hope this helps. :]

every one knows that Queensland has the biggest reputation for the grate beaches and party's but its not the only good spot i live in dungog near newcastle and its an awesome place with grate Beach's and relay beautiful countryside Melbourne is a grate place but not very good beaches but some awesome bands if you like the city life go for sydney or Melbourne if you like the country cross city i suggest newcastle and don't live in tibbabara its Always summer there and no surf lived there for a while and it sucked lol

Wheres the best place to live in Australia

Wheres the best place to live in Australia?
We have a 3 year old and 5 year old so we are looking for good schools. My husband is a draughtsman in Structural/civil. Also I am a childminder and was wondering if people use childminders in Australia. Thanks for any feedback.

I might be biased but i have to say Melbourne is the best city in Australia. Its close to beaches, parks and has an active metropolitan lifestyle. There are great public and private schools too. As for child minders, the day care and child care industry is pretty popular here but i have not heard too much about personal child minders if thats what you are referring too - then again, i am not the best person for advice on that as i dont have kids.
2 :
id say melbourne...good food and shopping...but the weather isn't great...if ur looking for good weather then go 2 brisbane!
3 :
childminder hahah we call them babysitters.
4 :
Melbourne is a great place lots of nice food and restaurants, very good education for children, there is the shops and the people are very friendly! There are lots of jobs for babysitting and like jobs for people who look after younger kids like at a kindergarden or something, but melbourne would be a good choice I'd say. Hope I helped!
5 :
Cairns is a fantastic place to raise a family. it's not as busy as a big city but is still filled with heaps of people. there is so much to do in cairns from shopping to going out to the great barrier reef, rain forests ETC. there are also a lot choices of different schools in both private and public and there is now a public school which goes from prep all the way to year 12.

I think Melbourne is a good place to live, although i live in Perth. Perth is too small and very boring, as Melbourne is a bit bigger and but not big like Sydney.
7 :
Lauceston in tasmania Perth in the WA Adelaide in the SA they are my favorite places to be, i was only in launceston for a week but i loved it, Perth is a really nice place the suburb in maylands is peaceful and quiet and close to the city but not to close but its expensive housing and Alexandra heights is a nice place and its close to the ocean, and the Adelaide hills and hahndorf and mt barker are great places
